| Guys, I have some plans for a steam engine at http://www.good-fellow.net/doublewobbler.html. Some parts need to be in brass. Why? Is it because a 3/16" rod is too week in aluminum? Why are some flywheels and pistons made out of brass and some aren't? The weight? I would like to know if I can only use aluminum. The engine will work on compressed air. Thx, Just starting off. | In looking over that neat little engine I would say his material is well chosen for strength, most definitely would not use aluminum where there is brass or steel on this model for strengths sake. Your own reasoning came up with the reasons not too. Looks like a lot of fun, go for it. |
