    IGES Imports into Sprutcam

How is SprutCAM at importing IGES models from legacy CAD apps?

I use Autodesk Inventor v5.3 (2002 vintage). I would like to be able to export IGES models from Inventor and then import them into SprutCAM. Would SprutCAM gracefully accept IGES data from an older CAD program, or would it turn up its nose and insist that I use a later version of IGES?

This is about the last issue I need to resolve before I pull the trigger and buy SprutCAM.

    Thanks in advance.

You may not need to convert to iges.

Sprutcam (with the addin for Inventor enabled) opens ipt.iam with version 7, although it is not working with 11 Pro.

Check the Sprutcam site, I seem to remember them telling you what versions they support.

That said, I have imported iges files with version 7 and 11

    MarkWink,

Thanks for that tip! I checked the SprutCAM site, and it appears that they do indeed have an add-in to read models from my version of Inventor. That is very good news!

    Thanks again.
