Check out this new Tutorial on how to machine two sides of a part by flipping the part and changing the coordinate offset. YouTube - SprutCAM 7 Tutorial Flipping A Part In One Program |

| Anyone tried this yet? When I try it the machining operation for the bottom part goes through the part. Not sure I am selecting the base surface correctly, and there is no indication in SC as to what is actually the base surface if you come back to the part later. |

| I do this all the time without any problems. You need to be sure that when you rotate your coordinate system 180 degrees that you also offset the "Z" for the thickness of the part to bring it back to the top surface. You can see which surface is the base by the location of the coordinate system icon. (to view - make sure you have the new coordinate system selected in the window next to the "help" menu - once you do that select the "isometric" view button on the lower tool bar) The best way to see what is happening is to run the simulation with the machine and tool displayed. BTW - Make sure you have a tool change in your program so you have an oppurtunity to flip the part. |

It's when I try and do a pocketing commend that the tool does not cut any material, it goes through the part. The actually base plane i was referring to is the one set in the pocketing command. |

| Can you assign (zero out) the G55 offset after flipping the part while mach3 is waiting for a tool change? i.e. G54 is set before the op is underway, and then when it is time to flip the part, set the G55 offset and run from there. Just wondering... |

| Not sure about that one but I have changed tool offsets in the tool table while MACH3 was waiting for a tool change. If it's the tool that is waiting to be inserted you have to re-enter the tool number manually into the display to load the correct value as it already loaded the previous one. |
