Cleaning Spindle Encoders
Hey guys. I have a turning center that rapids to the start of the cut and then just sets there. I found that if I adjust the spindle override it will start to cut. This machine is from the 80s and the company that made it is long gone, but a former parts distributor I talked with tried to point me in the right direction. He said that it was most likely the spindle encoder was dirty, or possibly a problem with the velocity drive. I have no clue where to start with either, but the encoder seems like the easier to start with. I would really appreciate any advice you guys have.
