Default Spindle only running at one speed

    My setup is:
    Hitachi WJ200-022sf
    Mach 3
    Smoothstepper
    C6 Variable speed controller.

Problem: I have just finished wiring my spindle and I am in the initial testing phase. From Mach3 I can turn my spindle on fwd & rev, so I know I am communicating with the vfd. My problem is when I turn the spindle (with it set on constant torque) on it runs at 226.6 hz every single time. I checked to see the analog voltage and it's showing no voltage. I'm about positive I can control the speed of the spindle when I get my analog voltage working.

Anyone have any idea of what I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also forgot to mention that when A044 is set to 03 (sensorless vector) it trips under acceleration and gives code E03.4. When the spindle is not plugged in the vfd will not throw error code.

    Update:
I read that for the c6 controller board to output the analog voltage, it has to be setup for pwm. I went in to the plugin control in mach3 and changed the spindle from the factory setting of "relay or none" to "PWM". Since I have done this, I lost the ability to turn the spindle on in reverse. Which brings up my first question: how do you control fwd/rev with the spindle set as pwm?

My next question pertains to while the spindle is running.

After I turn my spindle on, I can type in different speeds on my computer and the analog voltage changes. WHILE the spindle is on i can type in "0" rpm and the vfd drops to "226.6 hz". I know that 0v should correspond to 0 rpm and 10v should correspond to 24000 rpm. Is this issue corrected "Motor Tuning" in mach?

    Strokedyota,
You need to go into the SmoothStepper plugin and enable PWM output, that is where the PWM comes from and is sent to the analog board C6. Don't think you touch the one in Mach3. I have this same setup with the ESS and it works fine.

    Cncman,

Thanks for the reply, I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get any help. I think I may be fighting myself in my settings (plugin vs mach). I will try cleaning my settings up this evening. Since you have the same setup ... Could you maybe share your settings? I am assuming that you can control fwd/rev, just wondering where I am off. I am using the intelligent inputs for my fwd/rev command.

Turns out I was working against myself. Somehow A011 was set to 226, so that was where the 226.6 kept coming from. I have the spindle running fwd/rev and can control rpm. One small problem still exists... at 12k rpms my vfd is at 400hz. When I go up to 24k the vfd goes back to 0 hz. Somehow I'm off by a factor of 2. Any ideas?

    Update:
Issue is resolved and for anyone else in the future that might have this issue, here was my fix...
In the ess configuration in mach3, I changed from pwm to step/dir. In the pins and ports section I set the spindle to step/dir. I originally was using port 1 pin 1 for my step signal. After moving to port 2 it seemed to clear up a lot of issues. In the motor tuning page I matched the pulse/dir with the pulse width I entered in on the plugin control window. I used pins 2&3 on port 1 to control the relays on the board. Spindle is running like a champ, fwd/rev & 0-24k on command.
