I think in most cases the spindle is not the problem but the VFD configuration is. Most Chinese VFD are badly documented, so I'd advise you to buy quality VFD and Chinese eBay spindle.

I am using a Bosch Rexroth EFC5610 VFD and an eBay spindle, and they are good combination, work very well. The VFD is well documented and is easy to install and configure.

ok i will by a quality vfd at my local dealer. i have worked a bit with vfd in controlling ventilation and pump applikation. is there a different between that and a spindel motor? beside the size?
what size(kw) do i need to mill? i will mostly mill alu and the ability to mill cast iron/iron and steel would be a pulse.
we got a local delare selling spindels would any of this do?

You will get suggestions of everything up to several kW.
However, if you are machining Al and steel you do NOT want super-high RPM.
I mill steel, titanium, aluminium and plastic with a 500 W DC motor spindle at up to 3,000 RPM. I rarely pull more than 250 W, except when drilling hard.

    Cheers

VFD may be similar between a pump and spindle motor, biggest difference (other than size/capacity) would be how it's interfaced and max frequency. Most router 24k RPM router spindles require 400Hz output.
What type of milling machine or router do you have? Hard to make suggestions without knowing that, but in general those high speed spindles work ok for Aluminum (great for wood and plastic,) but don't have enough torque for real work in steel unless you're using very small mills (max 6mm, probably more like 3mm.)
