Default Need Help with 5 Axis Bob / Mach3 / Huanyang Spindle Setup

    Hi All,

I have a Smartsain 5 axis BOB and Mach3 and a Huanyang Spindle.

I would like to wire my BOB so it can do the following functions

    1) turn spindle on / off
    2) revers / forward spindle
    3) control spindle speed.

Supposedly with the correct wiring this can all work thru Mach3 and my Break out Board.

Can someone please help me out with a wiring diagram.

    Thanks Steven

1 & 2 are the same. The forward or reverse commands start the spindle.
Unfortunately, you can't do both with this board, as there's only one relay. See this image.

The terminals marked "Spindle On/Off Control Interface" are controlled by the relay, and go to the FWD terminal on the VFD.
The terminals marked 0-10V spindle speed go to the VI and DCM terminals. Look at the bottom of the board, for terminal information.

Assign Pin #1 in Mach3 to the PWM signal.

I have the same set up and can only use it to go one way. My output was only 5 volts so I bought a pwm board to use the 10 volt from the vfd and got it to work that way but if you read the book that comes with the vfd you can set it for 0-5 I did post a short youtube video It may not be the way the pros would have wired it but it has worked for me

Ok, maybe I am a little dense. I get that the 0 - 10V go to VI and DCM, does it matter which one goes to which ??

    and

there are two place to wire to the spindle on/off. Do I just wire one to the FWD ??

    Thanks Steven

I made a mistake. Look at the back of your board. The one labeled ground goes to ACM, the one that says 0-10V PWM goes to VI.

One to FWD, and the other to DCM

One to FWD, and the other to DCM

Ok, All wired up. BUTTTT it does not work right. I hear a click when I push the spindle toggle in Mach3 but I still have to hit the "run" button on the VFC. Then it only goes to a freqency of 100. 400 is the highest.

I did set up what I thought was correct in Mach3. I set up the Pully . I set up the output to #1.

I even checked the VFC and the pin connector is on "VI"

    any ideas ????

What do you have PD001 and PD002 set to?
And where is the jumper (J1) next to the screw terminals?

You probably need to go through all of the VFD parameters and set them up correctly.

    PD001 and PD002 are set to "0"

    PD003 = 100

Yes the J1 is set next to the terminal.

    Thanks Steven

Hello, I use the same board with LinuxCNC and my problem is that at the speed 0 the output is 10V and at full speed the output is 0V. It is supposed to be opposite...
How is it in Mach3 ? Thank you
