Lightbulb How to Wire a 400W Brushless on Driver

    Hello everybody,
    how are you?

I have just bought a simples spindle at Ali.
    The Spindle is a 400W Brushless - 400W.

I received the package, but I'm a newbie at eletronics.

I want to use this spindle for engraving machine.

    This is my spindle:
How to Wire a 400W Brushless on Driver-spindle-jpg

I got a manual of it:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...DDBLDV1_EN.pdf

    My doubt is:
The spindle has 3 wires (more thick), that I am almost sure are: W, V and U. (Color: Blue, Green and Yellow).
Which one is the "W", "V" and "U"? Is there a specific color to any wire? Or I could adopt it?

It does not really matter except if you have commutation pulses, aka hall effect.
Then in that case the right sequence has to be wired in the same order as each.
If you don't have a D.B. 'scope, then often the only way is to try the 8 permutations.

    Thanks man!

I have just found this at my spindle:

    I have just wired it!
But Hall sensor says: "HA", "HB" and "HC"... how do I wire it? (I powered on without wiring Hall... and the RED Light got on)

The same colours used for each matching phase and its relative Hall sensor.
    UVW to HA,HB,HC.

Without the halls connected of course you will get an error.

My friend, I have just wired hall sensor.
The two led's turn on! (I tried following same colors at first instance)

    Hello everybody,
    how are you?

Today I got something else about this spindle!

I have just started it! It runs just for a second and stop. I can hear "VRUMMM", the spindle turns very fast for a second and stop.

I tried to change Hall Sensor wires, but at the first change it got worst... like the Rotor was struck... it vibrates and stoped.

I wired it like this: (you must to wire GND to EN for TURN ON! You can change clock-wise and anticlock-wise too)
How to Wire a 400W Brushless on Driver-07-jpg

I maybe thought the problem was my DC Power Supply... my Power Suply is a 60DC 500W (It's very big... i thought it was be ok).

Have no idea what to do!

Normally, there would be an input for speed control in the "Machine Control" section of the driver. This would normally be either a POT or PWM signal that is used to control the speed. The spindle might start but does not see this signal so it stops. Look in your manual and see if it operates with a PWM signal or remote POT.

These settings should give you full speed.

    Switch 1 = off
    Switch 2 = on
    Switch 3 = off

    5V to VE

VE is 0-5volts, and controls the speed.

    Thanks ger21,

Think that is what he is missing as I saw no wire connected to VE. If he hooks up a simple 1.5v battery across that terminal the motor should run at a lower speed. Or if he puts a three terminal variable resistor with one end on GND, the other end of 5V, and the center wiper terminal on VE he should be able to vary the voltage and speed of the spindle. Probably takes a 5K pot would be my guess, that is probably in the manual for the unit if they provided a manual.

I have seen one of those spindles with Hall sensors wired 120 degrees off (so you had to connect UVW=green-yellow-blue for the windings and UVW=yellow-blue-green for sensors).

A word of caution: never plug in or unplug the motor connectors while the driver is powered. Never turn the driver on by plugging in the energized DC connector; use the switch on the AC side of the power supply. The SCM1243 chip inside those drivers is not indestructible despite supposedly being rated for 600V 15A.

    Hello everybody!

    The problem was solutioned!

    The spindle is working fine!

This is HOW I WIRED IT:
How to Wire a 400W Brushless on Driver-07-jpg

Now I'm turning on / off using my breakboard between: GND >> EN (Machine Control).

Note: The Trimpot was not "linear". I left it at the middle, but the spindle was not working. The spindle STARTS only at the END of the Trimpot.
    Now, everything is alright!

    Thanks very much for ALL!
