correct. i have a separate 12v power brick, and have actually switched bricks thinking it was the brick. i was doing some reading and i venture to guess that the "cheap chinese vfd" is throwing emi all over.

What is your 12vdc power source for the pump and where does it originate?

I am leaning towards putting a capacitor across the POS and neg leads at the pump to smooth out any induced current that might be entering the wires for the pump. Will be purchasing a shielded wire for the cable as well.

I came to this conclusion based off the pumps behavior when I clipped my voltmeter across the leads to check the voltage and it started behaving normally.
