    Default Northeast GA

    Hello,

Just found the board and was wondering if there were any members in the Northeast/North Central GA area. I am about 50 miles N.E. of Atlanta and am just gaining interest in CNC. I was wondering if there were any CNC Usergroups around this area too?

I have a Milling Machine but have yet to put any CNC on it. My real interest is to build a CNC router to make my guitar bodies.

I'm in Cumming.GA. Others taught me stuff I'll be glad to return the favor to someone else.

    Hi Kenny,

What have you built lately? Or, are you still working on something?

    Thanks,
    Dean

I have a project going modifying some parts for a 30 year old motorcycle for a fellow racer. This is the part I was modifying last weekend.

I've got some stuff drawn up that I need to do tool paths for and then cut. Nothing pressing just projects for myself.

Oh cool! That sounds like a challenging, yet fun project. You are obviously light years ahead of where I am at the moment.

I spent last night tweaking SketchUp and getting all of the extensions that I thought might be relevant for 3d Routing. I got the "Plot GCode" extension as well as various import export to do Solid Works, DWF, and others. Here is a screenshot of my extension panel it it makes any sense...

I've got about 20 minutes more experience. I am using Fusion 360 for all my stuff. I'm familiar of Sketch Up but have not used much.

Yeah I dont have Fusion, but I do have AutoCAD as well ! I was just picking whatever I could find out there... I have only seen the guitars posted in the sketchup format and have not gotten around to AutoCAD yet. My desk with that computer is a little hard to get to with all of the guitar parts and junk on it right now LOL. I need to get Fusion360 too.. It is much nicer for people who are :"builders" or "makers".

    Thanks,
    Dean
