    Default My home built machine

    Well i thought i would share with you my home built cnc /3d printer.
    I got the idea from this web page.

    Arduino Controlled CNC / 3D Printer Hybrid

    I have used my the mechanical side, slides, rails wheels ect from Makerslide.co.za

    the electrical i bought similar to Aldric Negrier build but was limited to what i could find locally.
    The electronics i bought from a Durban company DIYElectronics, Electronic Parts, 3D Printers and Professional Advice!
    who shipped it up for me.

    It has taken me the best part of two months, mostly after hours putting it together, i am still trying the cnc side as things fail break i am trying to find a solution.






    If you follow the links it is all pretty much there, but if you got any question post on the forum so we can all learn from them.

    Yep in hind sight could have gone with the smaller ones, but i like to go and over design things.

    Hi MelvinBruce~

    Saw your configuration and recognized it as being
    nearly identical to the controller I built for my
    Techno-Isel project. In fact, I used the same
    diagram you show in photo #1 -- the one given on
    the RepRap Wiki. I also note that you used a
    RAMPS 1.4 shield for an Arduino 2560. I did the
    same thing.

    However, there is an important difference between
    our configurations which I feel compelled to point
    out.

    Each motor driver must have its own connection to
    the power supply. Your photo indicates that power
    is provided to all of the drivers from the same
    +/- connection on the power supply. That is not
    correct and will create problems.

    I purchased two (2) power supplies, each capable
    of driving three (3) motors at 36V, not to exceed
    9.6 amps. The power supplies have three (3)
    positive and three (3) negative connections
    plus two (2) connections for the main supply
    (120V in the U.S.).

    Positive / Negative 1 goes to motor driver 1.
    Positive / Negative 2 goes to motor driver 2.
    Positive / Negative 3 goes to motor driver 3.

    In other words, you need to rewire the motor
    drivers so they each have their own circuit.

    Hi John

    yep i did that when i was testing the unit as i had spent all my pocket money on the motors and drivers, i have since bought another power supply and wired it up according to the drawing.
