    set defaults in SW 2008

For some reason I can not find where to set the defaults for SW 2008. In particular I would like to set it so every time I create a new file I dont have to set the units to inches vise the metric...

I am sure I am just blind, can some one point me in the right direction, please?

    TIA!

Solidworks default / part assembly template

when you have blank part options set for example inch or metric save as a solidworks part template.
...... in options under file locations add part template folder to search path. this way when you open new part , probably under advanced you get a selection of folders with templates.

i often use a part template for feet , inches dimensions 0.1"

and part template with inch only to 0.0001" for CNC.

you also have the option to include attachments to solidworks file like word document of parts list , ordering information, or machining order of operations and setup, and a attachment of a text file of Gcode used to make a part .

these also may not be visible if your part template is not setup to make them visible or if on automatic it may not be visible.

this is probably the number one complaint of books on solidworks as things are not always the same a book shows because under tools options something is turned off.
