Last week I recieved this CAD catalog free in the mail. 7000 components all in 3d solid format, really cool, linier slides, manifolds, bearing housings, all kinds of Solidworks goodness. You can transfer straight to SW and use them in assemblies. The company is Misumi USA inc. Schaumburg IL if anyone wants to try and get a copy. |

| Misumi is included in the SolidWorks 3dcontentcentral site. I believe you have to have a SW subscription to use this site though. I find 3dcontentcentral is just as quick or quicker than using CDs (assuming you have HS internet) and doesnt use up any extra computer resources.

| Nervis If you are doing any kind of machine design or mechanical assemblies, I very highly recomend you start using 3d content central. You may have noticed it in the SW "tools" menu.

| It's not just Misumi. There are dozens of companies. SMC, Destaco, Boston Gear, Robohand, huge list. Not as big as part spec but these are all drag and drop SW compatable. Admitedly it is still quicker to model things like plain bearings where you know the exact dims already.

| Oh yea, I was afraid u'd say that but thanx! I did that yesterday and the region where I am now is in Japan. I could not understand the characters. I was hoping I could have download some stuffs from misumi but in english version provided that these items are available in this region. But I'll try other region to see if the models I will be using are the same as the ones from Japan. I forgot to bring the installer that I was using on my workstation in the Phils. We had misumi cad library there. But really, I appreciate your option. thanx again! |
