Changing file names

Hi Guys,
I recently changed the name of a solid model that already had a .dwg file associated with it. When I opened the .dwg file it said the solid model could not be referenced and I get a blank sheet of paper. Is there a way to get around this?

Under File, there will be a place where you can see the location of the referenced file.
I'd recommend you search for "referenced files" in help. I've had this happen before, and it's just a matter of pointing to the file that is referenced, in order for SW to be able to load it.

A better way to change a file name is to use the 'change file name' function. It will go out and replace links such as this... so they aren't lost.. saves lots of headaches.. before they start..

Rename files using SolidWorks Explorer - this way all references to that file are properly updated.

Even easier than having to open SWexplorer is when your just digging through your files, if you right click a file in the window there is a line called SolidWorks --> if you extend that line it has a few handy tools pack and go, rename and a third that I can't remember... [this assumes the computer your doing this on has SW installed]

It's gotten so that I rarely ever open SW explorer anymore...
