making spiral downward cut in tube

Greetings, I am new to solidworks 2005. I would like to place a cut (slot) in this tube that is centered to the hole near the top of the tube. Then travel the length of the tube, exiting at the bottom. I've tried to use the 2 helix and join together (Rhino) This doesn't work. Thank you in advance.

Check out this thread. You'll basically be doing the same thing, just using a different helix.

Greetings, I've tried for 2 day's now and can't get it to work. I replaced the solid personal file with one from 2005 edition. I can do the helix but when I go for the cut and sweet it seems to cut everything away. I don't know how to make the cut(slot in the tube .25inch wide) It is so frust...I know this is how you learn and someday I'll be fast, but now I just want to see the computer being run over buy a big truck.
    Cheers,

I tried and followed the above post but could not get it to work. I have replaced the above zip (personal version) with 2005: when i get to the cut sweep part, it removes everything. I think I'm not setting up my helix correctly?

Is this like about what you want? I am using SW 2006 so you may need to use E-Drawings. You can Email me, cadfish@hotmail.com if you have any Questions.

Thank you for all of the help. I was not making a profile for my cut sweep sketch. Again thank you.
