    I followed up on it, too. I am now enjoying the tutorial. I could easily sucker in for this one, if only I could justify it.

    I can see it has great strength in creating and manipulating assemblies.

    I don't actually create assemblies very often though, most of my stuff is single part modelling which I can do in OneCNC.

    What do you other experienced machinists do? Is Solidworks overkill, especially if your cadcam already allows you the basic solid and surface modelling functions?
    First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

    Hu,
    The one thing your software won't do is automatically extrude a solid with a draft angle, at least I can't with mine, but in Solid works it does have this function.

    Mastercam will do this.

    I believe many machinists/programmers would do sufficiently with the CAD portion of their CAD/CAM software. But agreed, the assemblies and motion available with SW is very nice.
