2Dsketch, can't use it like 3D sketch why is that

I can't use spline at all in 2Dsketch, it will start to draw a spline in a grey color line really oddly then it disappears and has no snap points either. The 3D sketch works beautifully so I have been drawing everything in that. But now I have to use 2D for an extruded cut but I can't use spline when I really won't too. Also in 2D sketch why is there a grey + as the curser instead of the pencil. It's like it moves around with lingering curser lines and it's kind of transparent sometimes. Can anyone help me.

The + cursor sounds like the 2d command line emulator. Check >tools>add-ins and see if that is loaded and try turning that off.
