    Need Help!

    Hello..

    I got a problem here..

Is there any software to convert autoCad files (dxf*, dwg*) to solidworks format files (prt* or assemblies files)..?

I can't analyze my design using CosmosExpressStudy while convert this dxf* file into solidWorks..

    Thanks A Lot..

considering that dwg is a 2d stick drawing and a sldprt is a 3d solid - it isn't going to happen.
You need to use your fingers, mouse and keyboard.
Yes it is a big PITA.
We need to get more people in the world using and sharing MCAD files.
    Sorry

I Import Dwg/dxf Into Solidworks All The Time. I Do This Because It Is So Much Faster To 'sketch' In Auto Cad Than In Solidworks. Just Make Sure The Drawing Is Flat And You Have All The Lines Connected
Keep In Mind That This Is Just A Starting Point To Extrude Those Complex Profiles (and Holes At The Same Time). After The Initial Extrude Just Finish The Model Useing The Solidworks Commands
P.s Make Sure You Save Your Dwg As A Previous Version Like R12 Or 14 Dwg/dfx If You Are Useing Autocad2006 With Solidworks2004

Thanks a lot Darebee and helix77..

I'd just finished design a model using Solidworks..
But still can't analyze using cosmos..
Hmm, maybe because it is multi-bodies..
I still carry on analyze the simple part for this model..

    Thank a lot guys.. =)

All I do is open a Auto Cad drawing in Master Cam, convert it to .iges, then open it in Solid Works. It opens as a .sldprt

cosmos doesn't like multiple bodies, weldments or assemblies. just choose the "merge solids" option when extruding your features. it says in the design tree in parentheses how many solid bodies you have. it needs to be 1 if you want cosmos to run.
