I am trying to model a car spotlight housing that looks light the headlight housing found on the old style 2CV. I am trying to copy a sample product that a firend has let me borrow. I have the overall length and measured the diameter every 25mm along this length. With a view to drawing a centre line and then drawing consrtuction lines at 90 deg along this centre line. I had then expected to be able to join all the ends of the lines with a arc line and create the curved surface. To date of have been unable to find a way to get a line to create the curved surface, all the options that I have found do not seem to be able to cope with multiple points of the curve, and I end up with segmented curve and not one continuous curve, or using parable a shape that does not conform to the size requierd. I have previously drawn this with Solid Edge, and was able to adjust the shape by changing the diameters which was really cool since i could see instantly the curve and was able to adjust it to get the desired effect. I suspect I have missed a trick somehwere being falrly new to SD. I would be very grateful if there is anyone out there who could point me to a you tube tutorial or perhaps expalin how to achieve this shape
Well I now feel a little silly I have found away of achieving the above by simply using "spline" which so far has got me to the stage of a section, which I expect to be able to turn into sheet metal and revolve. I will kep this thread open if that is OK just in case I hit another problem.
