Are you doing this from the 'bodies' folder or from directly in the tree [works only from the Bodies folder IIRC]
Hi all
I'm trying to work with a file that actually contains an assembly but was save as .sldprt file. The idea is to open each component into a new file using the option "Insert into new file", that can be accessed by right clicking that component from the build up tree. Unfortunately, I right click on it but there is no such option as "Insert into new part". Wonder why?!
I run Solidworks 2010.
Thank you!

The more I know... the more I realize I don't
(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)
Usually when an assembly is saved as a part it is dumbed down to an amalgamation of exterior surfaces only.
You will have to use split-part and then I imagine you will still need to do major work for it to be usable.
