    boolean add and remove

    Hi everybody i am trying to make a fixture for second op. the surfaces i have to hold on the part are 3D and were machined with a 3/8 ball end mill, i want to hold my part with aluminum jaws with a matching cavity, but before i machine anything i want to see an assembly anyone can tell me how can i do in solid works 2010 something similar to boolean add, remove and common,from mastercam x3, thank you for your help any kind of suggestion about how to create a matching cavity surface is appreciated.

    The only way I know to do this is in a multi-body part file. The feature is called "Combine". You can do boolean adds and subtracts.

    Save your assembly as a part file and that will create the multibody part file. Search for "Combine Bodies" in Help and it will explain the rest or go to Insert->Features->Combine and you can probably figure it out from there.

    Check "Cavity" routine in the help area, that may get you what you want.
