maybe save all in one stl file
I downloaded a solidworks assembly from online to play with on a homebrew cnc machine, ok, ok, it's a model of the 'Mach 5', I know I'm a hopeless geek
What I'd like to do is carve this out of a block of wood but I keep having issues with the gaps and breaks between the assembled items like doors and hood, which open on the assembly.
Is there a feature or technique that would let me basically drape a surface over the top of the model and create a single part that is basically all of the assembled parts top surfaces that I can export to my cnc program.

if they are all surface entities you can use "knit" to join adjacent surfaces. It may also help to save the assembly as a part so everything is in one part and there are no mates or anything to deal with.

good day
my cam program will only create from a part... not assemblies
I've used the "JOIN" feature to create a single part from the assembly
to avoid a long explanation, go to the help section of SW, it explains it all there
it allows you to force contact between parts... works pretty slick
good luck
