    I can help you

    Hello zeeshan,

I can help you if you're having a mold design problem but I'd prefer that you post pictures on the forum instead of a file to download. These days one never knows if the download has a virus or other computer damaging materials so I never download these type of files.

Post some images, tell me what you need and I'll reply.

    Have a terrific day!

    Hi Robert,
Attachmemt is a model of solidworks and is safe. No problem if you don't want to download the model. Now i am attaching the images. The problem i am facing that as you will see in the image the model has breaking parting line on the border. Imold itself only search the continous parting lines and it works well. But i am facing problem in defining the parting line and not find anyother way to define the parting line manually either by making a sketch or anyother method. The same problem i am facing on all the models that have holes on parting lines. Hope you will understand my problem. If you believe you can download the actual model from my last post, it is safe. I am anxiously waiting for your reply. If you have any msn or skype id please forward me for direct conversation. Thank you for your precious time and considertion.

    With best regards,
    Zeeshan Ahmed.

    Hello Zeeshan,

What you are trying to do is very simple. You'll need to create shut-off surfaces to define these areas.

Look at the picture of the mold insert that creates the black part in my avatar image, it's on the right side. It's full of openings just like the images you posted plus a long core pull down the center of the part and several areas with telescoping shut-offs.

Good luck and have a terrific weekend!

    Robert

    Hi Robert,
Thankyou for your best suggestion. I try to do things as you said but i can't.
If you have some time please dowload my attached file from my last post and please do it as you say. Give me the finished file in solidworks 2009 format. My attached model also a solidworks 2009 file. Otherwise give me some sample file of your work. I shall be very thankful to you for that. Hope you will help me out.

    With best regards,
    Zeeshan Ahmed.

    Hello Zeeshan,

Sorry to hear that you can't get this to work. I would suggest you do one of the following:

    1) pay for more training so you can understand how to use the software
    2) pay someone else such as myself to do the mold design for you
    3) change careers, perhaps sell shoes for a living

I mean no offense but you have to understand that people such as myself are in business to make money. We have paid for the software, training and put in thousands of hours educating ourselves.

I have over thirty years of mold design experience and I'm not interested in educating foreign companies that dump poor quality cheap molds on the US market and in the process destroy US manufacturing. The US has already seen far too many cheap, low quality molds from China, India and Portugal. Many US companies I know are tired of this and many will no longer deal with offshore mold factories. It cost them far too much in repairs, down time and lost sales which in the end drive up the part costs and erode their profits.

Now I'm not trying to say that your company is doing this. Maybe you're making molds for your own market which is an admirable thing but at the same time I've seen other foreign countries start out this way too and they eventually try to take a piece of the US market. This hurts mold shops and mold designers in the USA!

Now I don't mind making a simple suggestion like I did for you but I'm not interested in doing your job at my expense. Sorry, not interested! Actually I'd be very surprised if you'd find anyone who'd be willing to do this.

Best of luck to you and have a terrific weekend!

    Robert

Take a look at the Solidworks mold design help files and tutorials. "You" should be able to get the job done. Also using the Solidworks "mold tools" with this part would be a relatively easy process. But you have to have a basic understanding of draft requirements on the part and at partingline steps

    Good Luck
    Mike

    Hello Mike,

Do you know if the SolidWorks help files and tutorials will work on a bootleg copy of the software? I have heard about mold factories in China who have the software but it's not a legally purchased copy. This happens with Pro/E as well.

It would be nice to know that they are at least not getting a free education after stealing the intellectual property of a US company.

    Have a terrific day!

I don't know if the help files work or not with illegal copies.

    Regards

    Hello Mike,

Let's hope not. When I've been in China I've seen illegal copies of movies, CD's, DVD's and software all at a very small cost. You can even find illegal alcohol with American brand labels on the bottles. I've never bought any but someone told me it tastes about as good as paint thinner. I told him that's probably the main ingredient!

    Have a terrific day!
