    Threaded hole

Is there any way to make a threaded hole look threaded in the solid model?

Click on Format, View. The Format view dialog will open.

    Tick the box marked Textures.

The rod will appear threaded in the view.

Have you already applied the thread to the rod?

Generally threads appear green, if the textures are applied

    thread

I must be doing something wrong. After I have made a solid with a thread I then click on the thread, format, view, textures. The thread looks like nonthing more than a hole in the part. Is there something I am missing?

When you thread the part, does the thread show up green?

Not at first, but I changed the colors to show green when it is a thread. It now shows green, but as fas as looks like a thread there is no difference other than color from the whole part.

OK, it sounds like you changed the colour manually in the view style, is that correct?

If you did, that wont do.

First, what version of SE are you running. I am only familiar with V18 and 19.

Second, when you installed the software, did you just do a standard install or did you modify it, (folder locations ect...)?

How are you applying the threads to the parts.

I have attached 3 images so that you can see what I mean.

The first is a 10mm protrusion. I then used the thread tool, picked the cylinder to thread, and the start end. If your rod does not match any of the threads on file, it will not thread.
I picked the M10 thread, and then returned.

You will see that the surface of the rod appears green. (Image 2)

Now I have turned textures on, you can see the "thread" appears on the rod. (Image 3)

Without seeing it, it appears that the part is not actually threading. ( One way of checking would be to take it into draft, and see if the thread lines appear)

If you would like to upload the file (or part of it) I would be happy to look at it.

    Sorry the images wont attach.

    Hope this helps

    Thread

I follow your example. I change the thread color to model default before I started. The cyclinder does not change color after the thread is picked. The part is threaded, I can tell this by opening a drawing file and loading the solid into it. There must something that is not turned on, but I have no idea what it could be.
