I am running SolidCAM 2009 SP4 on Windows 7 x64 for about 7 weeks with no major problems. There are a few bugs but I'm reporting them and SolidCAM tell me they'll be fixed in SC2010 (due later this month).

With SolidCAM 2011 due out in August (in line with SolidWorks 2011) I think I'll give SC2010 a miss.

Bob
You are using solidcam 2009 on windows 7 64bit, but is your installation of solidWorks 64 bit or 32 bit, I believe solidcam is only 32 bit, but I here there is a problem of linking solidcam to 64 bit version of solidworks?

Currently I'm still in 2 minds changing the system...

I am on SolidWorks x64. You're quite right, SolidCAM 2009 is 32 bit (I am told that SC 2010 will be x64) but I don't have problems programming my parts. SolidVerify runs into problems with very big (in terms of tessalation) parts but SolidCAM 32 bit and SolidWorks 64 bit, no problem.

Of course there are the minor bugs that infest all software (the fix one, break three syndrome).

So when people are having problems linking, did your system link perfectly. i.e. when you install solidcam 2009, I here that it can't find the installation of solidworks 2009 64 bit..

Yes, it linked with no problems whatsoever. IT installed itself as an add-in and SolidWorks recognised it straight away. When I restored my SolidWorks settings using the wizard the toolbar appeared in the right place in my windows.

What's all the fuss about?

Wink

If your PC config is good, you may run winXP under win7. My PC can run win7 under winXP. hoho~~~ win7 is not perfect now, many of my softwares can not be worked well under win7, so do not suggest use win7. But it is your choice. hoho~~~

I've just stuck with a 32 bit version install win 7, works perfect, well for me.

I can't be bothered to waste time umming and ahhing. I'll wait until solidcam 2012 maybe 2013 until I move to 64 bit. By then other software should also be native 64 bit. Is that a pig over there in the sky......
