Newbie- Pocket depth

Hallo,

I have problem with solidcam 2010.

I try to mill a pocket with one edge open (and with tool milling several step downs )and finish the wall with one pass on total depth.

The option "total depth" is not possible to select in the technology tab.

If i try the same settings but the pocket is defined as closed geometry there is not such problem - the option of "total depth" is not gray and is possible to choose.

Why it is not when i define the geometry as chain with one edge open?

Might it be a bug in the solidcam?

On the technology portion under finish, select wall on geometry or offset, and then either total depth or each step down.


If that doesnt work what service pack are you running. You might need to update your service pack if it is not working.

I also checked SC 2011 and this works the same there as well.

Do you get a message that this is currently a limitation? I have found the same problem, but it is easily solved by creating a separate operation for finishing. Using 'Save and Copy' does a good job or creating a copy of the operation in seconds and then modify the settings to finish only at Total depth
