Hi All,
I am completely new to solidcam and just want to cut a fillet from the four top edges of a square solid box.
I think I can set up the stock OK (unless I am missing something) and get the verify to cut the box to size, but it just remains a square solid box, I cant get SolidCam to cut the fillets.
Can anyone give any advice on how to do this?
Thanks
Simon

Try using HSS.

Alternatively use an corner rounding cutter and use the same profile that you used for cutting the square box
I'm just doing the CAM work for making some motorcycle brake levers, so there's a bit of filleting involved.
In this case I am using a 4mm radius cutter and selecting the profile geometry that I want the cutter to follow.
In the tools I basically selected an endmill and then used the "shaped tool" to make a sketch of the actual raduis tool so that it cuts correctly in solid verify.
Here's how I would set up if I wanted to put a fillet on one edge of your square box (ignoring the shaped tools feature), and using a finish cut only:
Use profile strategy
Select the top edge as the geometry. Presuming that your box doesn't have the filled feature on it.
Tool would be endmill. My 4R cutter is 14mm diameter, so I'd enter this as the endmill diameter
Upper level: top if box.
Profile depth: top of box
Delta depth: -4mm (same as radius, so lowers the cutter by 4mm into the work piece)
Technology: I use the modify geometry button and offset the chosen chain profile by the radius. In this case -4mm. Which brings the cutter into the workpiece by 4mm.
This will then give you your 4mm radius.
Of course lead in/out can be adjusted to suit your needs, as can delta depth and offset of profile.
I also tend to use compensations so that I can play with the tool to get the perfect radius blend on the job.
