If there is someone out there that can help this newbie out it would be greatly appreciated. I have been struggling to get a simple part to import into SolidCAM from Solidworks 2010; 1) Can a part that was created in Solidworks 2010 be used with Solidcam 2008? 2) What do I need to do when I get an error "Can not copy item" 3) What am I doing wrong? Any help, tips, tricks and suggestions are and will be greatly appreciated. |

| I would think that your problem stems from the fact that Solidworks is not backwards compatible. i.e. Solidworks 2008 will not open Solidworks 2010 files, but will open previous version files. As Solidcam runs within Solidworks, it probably is having the same issues. I would suggest you try exporting/importing the part file through iges or similar process. Cheers Brian. |

| Thanks for your responses! I talked to the shop foreman today at work and he suggessted saving as a DXF file from solidworks, one of the ways he has been able to utilize SolidCAM 08 with Solidworks 2011. By gosh it worked!!! So I do have a tip for you guys who answered if you run across my issue in the future, save as a *.DXF and it will work. I will try to upgrade to 2010 soon! Best Regards! Justin |
