Unhappy Solidcam crashing all the time!!

Hi there, this is my first time here, and I am really in need of help.

    here's the situation:
Since I upgraded to solidcam 2010 sp2, when defining a new coordsys, or sometimes even when just opening a solidcam project, the graphics freeze and crashes solidworks (first on 2010 sp4 and now on 2011 sp0), I have dismissed my old quadro fx4500 card thinking is was that, and now I've hooked up a recent geforce and the problem still remains, any ideas? is there any software that might be interfering with the rest?

thanks in advance for any help

    Hi!

Are you using SolidWorks approved drivers, or latest from nVidia ?
Running Vista or Win7 with 64-bit gave graphic issues in 2009 and needed to start SolidCAM in "Vista-basic"-mode, but is solved in 2010.
I'm running FX4500 with 64-bit Win7 in SW2010 and 2011 + SC2010 and it runs like a dream. I never go besides SW approved graphic drivers (see SolidWorks 3D CAD Design Software) as it have caused much problems earlier.
It sounds like a graphic memory limit issue and there is the quadro card better then Geforce. See that the computer just running SW+SC

There is SC2010 SP3 just released also... Maybe it's worth a try.

Does it happen with all your files or just the one? I know SolidCAM had a problem opening an imported file. That might be your problem. The problem has been fixed in the newer releases of 2010.

I had no end of problems when we upgraded to SC2010 SP2 & a graphics driver update seemed to get things going again but I must say I'm still having way too many crashes.
I seem to have a lot of problems in SolidVerify and crash a couple of times a day but for one of the other guys in here it is with sketches. It doesn't seem as stable as the previous version we were using.

Is this a SolidCAM or a SolidWorks problem? I had graphics card issues and it turned out to be SolidWorks.

How come you are on 2011 SP0? SolidCAM 2011 isn't being released in the UK until January - is yours a beta release?

Hi, I'm on 2011 SP0, but solidworks not solidcam, anyway, I've got solidcam 2010 SP3 now, got it from solidcam support, and so far so good, looks like it was some kind of bug, and when I think about it, SP2 was released like a month ago and SP3 came so quickly so it has to mean something, there was a problem for sure in SP2. It was strange because I always use only solidworks certified drivers... so...

Anyway thanks for all your help.
