Try using a Fanuc post-processor; Linux CNC mostly adheres to the Fanuc standard. Particular G-code functions might act funny, but you should be able to customize the post to work around the problems.
I've been using Inventor HSM for my CAM activities and it's possible to post process the information to a format which is compatible with a generic Linux CNC machine.
In Solid CAM this generic set up doesn't seem to be available as all that is listed are about ten specific machines. Does anyone know which of these will work with Linux CNC or if not how can i get the output code to be Linux compatible.

Thanks. I'd read somewhere else that the Fanuc post-processor should be ok. I guess it just wouldn't run if it found some inconsistencies.
From what you say there isn't a generic post processor that could be loaded into Solid CAM.
With the exception of this issue Solid CAM does seem to be better than HSM.
