Homing in series..does not back off switch??

    Hello,
We wired our cnc router with the USB Ver 1.2 smooth-stepper this weekend but cannot get the axis to back off the switch so the next axis can be homed. The switches are wired in series with NC switches and as soon as the switch makes contact Mach shows all switches active and is in an error stop situation. We did not have any problems with the prior setup and a C10 breakout board but can not get the homing to work like we want with the smooth-stepper setup. Our current work around is to manually back off the switches but this is really only acceptable temporarily. Do we need to rewire our homing circuit and use different switches to get this to work, or are we doing something wrong?
Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Wes

I don't have any experience with the Smooth Stepper, but the statement that I quoted above is a bit confusing.

If you wire NO switches in series, then all switches must be activated to get a signal through them. Activating a single switch will not be enough. I'm not sure that what you have described can actually work.

So, are you actually using NC switches in series, or NO switches in parallel, or some other configuration? Are there pull-up resistors involved? If so, how are those wired? Are the switch inputs to the Smooth Stepper set up for active-low or active-high operation?

I made a big mistake in the post above, I should have said they are NC normally closed.
Sorry. Do you know of a way I can fix it? There are currently no resistors, and the inputs are not checked for active low. The switches work but the axis will not auto back off.

The thing that makes the set up for homing difficult with the smooth stepper is that Mach does not support the automatic setup of homing switches with USB connection. Is there a way to configure the home switches manually as Mach does it automatically?
