    Smile Smooth Stepper Advice please

    Hello CNC enthusiasts,

I am new to this website, and ha… new to forum blogging (if that’s the correct wording) too, and please excuse me if I have posted in the wrong link.

For any other new CNC enthusiasts and new forum users too, see the links below for good starting places to work from, unfortunately I don't know how to insert links yet but if you copy the link and paste into your browser it will work.

I don’t have a parallel port on the PC I want to use to run Mach3 for my project so, I am looking for advice on usage of the Smooth Stepper from Warp9.
http://warp9td.com/documentation.htm, by Warp9 http://www.warp9td.com/ these are also supplied by Keling and by CNC4PC and I assume by many other suppliers.

I would like to hear feed back on potential problems if any with configuration of the Warp9 software/hardware?. I intend to purchase my package from CNC4PC as from looking at discussions I believe they provide good after sales service and support.

Am I correct with my hardware configuration setup as follows; PC/Eithernet or USB cable/Smooth Stepper connected directly board to board to the C32 Beaker Board http://www.kelinginc.net/C32Manual.pdf and using the on board connection blocks RJ45 connectors for all I/Os and as CNC4PC suggest you only have to use standard networks cable to make all connections. These I can directly connect to the respective Digital Stepper Drivers with the addition of C34KL - Driver to RJ45 Connector Board http://www.kelinginc.net/BreakoutBoards.html.

There is another fantastic website http://www.g0704.com/index.html where loads of additional information can be accessed, and thanks to them I am using part of one suggested CNC hardware conversion configurations for my project.

    Regards,

    Eoin.

Ethernet is not used. If you don't use a Smoothstepper, you need to use a parallel port.

It would appear to me that the C34KL may only work with certain drives that have matching pin locations.

But yes, for the most part, you are correct.
