Default ESS: Using all 15 inputs and one BOB?

    Hello,

I have a question regarding input pins on the ESS.

I have a C11GS BOB from cnc4pc. The board has 5 input pins however I need 11 input pins for MPGs and switches etc. So, my question is, say if I have an ESS, the ESS has 3 ports and 5 inputs on each port so that makes 15 inputs in total. When I connect my C11GS board to one of the ports, can I use all the remaining 10 inputs of the ESS without connecting additional BOBs?

    Thanks in advance.

    No.
Also, I don't believe that the ESS has 5 inputs on each port. I think at least one port uses pins 2-9 as inputs.

Get an MB2 breakout board, which uses all 3 ports, on one breakout board.

The greens on the image are inputs. Do I need a BOB to use them?

Don't need a BOB to use any of the pins, just some way to wire to them. If you're comfortable making your own wiring harnesses, and don't need isolation, go for it. Breakout boards just provide convenience and usually some level of protection against short circuits and isolation (very important when communicating with anything connected directly to mains.)
Also, you can use the bidirectional pins as inputs, not sure if there are any limitations on them as compared to the dedicated inputs.
