Does anyone out there have one of the new machines offered by Smithy with the Siemens controller?

You talking about the mill or a lathe?

There are at least three people posting on other threads in this forum about the cnc lathes they bought this year, all with the Siemens fanuc controller.

That new VMC425 looks pretty sweet. Wonder how much it is?

Of course I just looked for the YouTube video on it and it's gone!

Where did you see it? I don't see it on the Smithy website.

Yeah it popped up on my YouTube feed- there are 3 videos. Then suddenly they vanished. Try googling vmc425 and maybe there's a cached version somewhere

Makes me wonder what is going on. Not very confidence inspiring.

Hey, this sort if stuff happens even with big computer-savvy companies like Apple too. They build a new product release page and accidentally make it go live a week before the announcement.

Probably the same thing; Smithy is going to add yet ANOTHER cnc product to their stable, and accidentally posted it before they were ready. Which is really bad for business, since now there are a handful of people who were going to buy their 1036 cnc mill, but now decided to wait for the new VMC. Which still might be months away. Osborne effect?

I did some alibaba searches, as well as went to the homepage of the company who apparently makes their current machines, and couldn't find any reference to the VMC425 (they have a VMC320 and VMC400).

I'm interested in the 425 too I haven't contacted them yet. I see on their website they have 3 other sizes not highlighted though so I guess they are in the works. I'm in Calgary Alberta so I'm wondering about shipping / duty I know there will be gst. I also would like to know the minimum height to bring it into he garage I'm at 82" for clearance so should be ok.
