    My 622 just shipped today.

    Planning on putting some BLDC servo's on X and Y.

    Yes!

    This is a fantastic machine. I had a lot of fun building it up.

    I kept the stepper on the Z-axis and built a DC power supply to use with a gecko drive.

    The BLDC servos are really powerful. It took me a while to tune them up, but it was totally worth it. I've got the rapids set at 300 ipm and the acceleration at 1/2 a g I think.

    I put a 5000 line encoder on the x-axis so with a 4mm lead, I get like 127000 counts per rev. I'm looking to replace the y-axis encoder with one of those. Right now it's only 1000 lines.

    In the video, the tool was chattering really bad because that piece of aluminum was hollow on the backside - just some scrap to tear up.

    I'm working on an encoder mount for the spindle because I have one left over from the x-axis and I'd like to do rigid tapping.

    We're traveling for the holiday, but I'll post some more pics / video when I get back if you all are interested.
