Sinumerik 840C, Sinumerik 840D

Hello,
have Sinumerik machines connected directly with computer via serial cable RS232 (COM port). I would like to write my own windows program to be able monitor the machine.
Does anybody has any experience in this area? I believe there has to be an interface for communication between PC and Sinumerik via COM port, but I have no idea where to search for it

840 C and 840 D use differant interface for PC. 840C has TTL port for itself S5 PLC. You can use 9-25 cable and you can connect direct from comport to system. You can see PLC networks and can do modification. at the same time you can use PC-IN program for backup part program and other some machine parameters but I don't prefer PC-IN program for 840C. Always I use valitek casette system for 840C all system backup.

840 D has MPI/DP systems for connecting integrated PLC S7-300. You can not connect direct from comport. Must be have MPI/DP converter or Siemens PG. Can use MPI/DP port on NC module for connection PLC. Some Sinumerik HMI software has Simatic Manager program.

If you want to have all 840D system backup (NC+PLC+HMI) first you must start backup from NC to HMI HDD. [NC+PLC+HMI >> HMI HDD]. after to this you can start backup from HMI HDD to ethernet or USB (to out of HMI).
