    USB Port activation

    Hi,does anyone know how to turn on the USB port on the front of the control panel.We are currently using a 1.44 floppy disc.This is for a 840D,any help would be welcomed.

    I think you'll find that the usb on the front is for a keyboard only.
    But, on our 810T(D), there is a memory card (compact flash) in the back of the control (behind the display screen), and an empty usb adjacent to this.
    This maybe what you have???
    If you do, perhaps this usb works (we've been told ours doesn't but I'm not convinced), and it would be easy to run a USB extension cable from here through the control panel to the front.
    I've never tried this, as I don't want to plug it in and fizzzzz the control, but I haven't got around to contacting siemens to ask.

    The USB port is for keyboard and mouse only. If you were to try to get a USB memory stick to work, you would have to get the drivers for the operating system on your controller. Ie, if running WINNT you would need that driver, if running WINXP you would need a driver for that. Good luck!
