New Storage Cabinets

I had a 183" wall in my shop which was set up with two 3' wide by 6' tall shelving units. One was a cheapo plastic job and the other was a steel shelf that will look familiar to anyone who has looked for shelving at Lowes or Home Depot. I then had two cheap kitchen base cabinet units and three cheap wall cabinet units above the bases. The bases were topped off with a formica countertop with a space for my trash can.

These served me well for a few years but I needed to better utilize the space. I've heard that the Lista and Vidmar cabinets are like buying gold. At my local tool supplier one day I spotted a cabinet unit that seemed very well made. It was made by StorLoc. I looked them up and started trying to put together something to replace my existing setup.

The attached pictures show the before and after. I'm pretty impressed with these new units. Very well made and very functional. They make their "StorLoc" cabinets which are the base cabinets you see and the "StorFrame" units which are the shelving units. They really are just a tall version of the StorLoc units from what I can tell.

I had one of the StorFrame drawers configured with a CAT 40 tool deck. On the base cabinets I had one drawer configured with an ER16 deck and another with an ER32 deck.

The StorLoc is a lot of cabinet for the money compared to the Lista. I am 90% done with another expansion myself. I am about to start the search for cabinets and racks. Kind of nice to see bare walls for a change

Yeah, they did seem to be a lot of cabinet for the money. The price goes up a bit when you start adding some of the options however.

PS. I oicked up a cabinet similar to the Storelock things for $300 a few years ago. It was allowed to fall over backwards off a truck and all the drawer slides came loose. I spent about 4 hours taking everything apart and reinstalling the slides in their slots and reckon I was saving money at a good hourly rate.

Yeah, I'd say that's a heck of a deal if that's all you had to do. I like your CAT 40 holders you show in the picture but with the humidity in Houston I wanted to keep mine installed inside of a drawer where I could put some desiccant and camphor.
