Recessing matl 8620

Hey Guys,

Need some help here. I am recessing a groove in the id of the part. the material is 8620. however... after i make the 1st rough recess i go and put 2 notches with an endmill into the face of the part that break into the recess. i go in with a secondary finish recess to clean out the burrs and finish the groove but when i go in with the second recess i am getting tearing in the notches from the interupted cut. any advice on how to get past this?

Machine: index ms32b
Cutting conditions: 4000rpm .0015ipr
