Unhappy setting a boring bar on lathe

I'm new to cnc turning and i'm learning as I go. The trouble is,how to set the X offset for a boring bar when the thing is fed from the back of the m/c and the cutting edge is on the wrong side so to speak and upside down??

Run the spindle backwards, cut or touch off on the negative side of the part, and set that as negateive whatever your diameter is.
