Old Myford on it's way into the new millenneum.

Hi friends,

My latest project is officially launched. Tattaaa!!

See how the shabby bedways and slides get a treatment at:
http://www.sjaavik.com/myford/pictures.html

Don't hold your breath. It's now in the painting stage, and not much more interesting will be presented until that's done. You don't want to watch the paint drying, will you?

That will probably be figuring out how best to place the ballscrews and servo's. They should be fit into as small an envelope as I can, as I want it contained in a fully enclosed cabinet to avoid coolant getting all over the place.

I will attempt to use the WorldServo drives on this one. And proper backlash free ballscrews and support bearings are already in stock. If I can figure out how to use a 1.75 Hp BLDC and a servo drive for the spindle, that's what I want to do. Not as a C-axis, but mainly because I don't want to impair the accuracy by hanging a heavy 3-ph motor onto the back of the lathe. The servo motor weighs in at a fraction of the mass. If it works as I hope, it can be used for threading though. The changewheels will not be used.

I'll try to remember posting to this thread when there are significant changes to my site.

And as always, emails are welcome, but choose a subject that clearly indicate it's not spam. I am the spam filter, and a very trigger happy one too.

Edit: Oops! Wrong forum I guess. @Admin: can you correct that?

Einar, I tried to access your site, but today it seems to be down. I'd like to see some pics!

Swede, You're right. So is the POP3 server for Sjaavik.Com.
There is a message on Detego.no (my service supplier) that they have a server down. Nice of them to display this on their front page, a thing few would do. With their level of professionality I trust it to be up again soon.

@Paul: Thanks. At the moment there is only the "before" pictures. No "CNC-content" At the moment I'm painting. And that's not just paint applied. My aim is the few Myford parts that remains should look better than new. I'll put some up within a couple of days.
I will also put some new pic's of my CNC mill soon. It's fully working now, which it was not in the pic's shown in my gallery. It already made a series of 40 parts for an alarm panel I designed.

Me digressing? I never do that!
