Just received my Sieg C-4 through Travers. I'm so busy right now, it's just sitting in the crate - maybe I can savor unpacking it this weekend!
Has anyone else got one yet? I'll post photos after the "unveiling". |

Seig C4
I've had mine about 9 months now and really like it. I've never used any metalworking machinery before so it is a voyage of learning. It does have some quirks though which take a bit of lateral thinking to get round but other than that it seems to be a well sorted piece of kit

The Sieg C4 is an 8 x 17 lathe with the SX3 mill electronic variable speed control setup and 1000 watt motor. It comes with a 4 inch chuck and a cam-lock tail stock. $1599.00 at Travers.

No man, I'm in the UK - we've had them available for about a year! Got mine from Chester Machine Tools. At current exchange, I paid about $1200!
Look Here : http://www.chesteruk.net/store/comet...athe_450mm.htm Seems they've gone up in price a bit ! Must be popular

'Best mini out there' - that was my conclusion before purchase. As an absolute beginner machinist, it ticks all the boxes for me, sturdy, as well made as can be expected for the price with some big machine functions and features - power cross slide, tee slots, 1.5hp motor. Looks like I won't be changing for anything else

I guess it's not always progress to go from being a machinist to a mechanical engineer! I still haven't had time to set it up. I've been a mach. for 30 years, and this thing is beautiful! I just can't play with it yet!
Like the previous guy, it has the things a machinist wants - plenty of power, inch gears - and I wasn't going to buy a machine that didn't have feed in both cross and long. I'm torn between setting it up to use, or putting it in a glass case in my den. It's every machinists' dream - a brand new, shiny red lathe of my very own! K, I'll stop gushing and try to get some unpacking photos to post. Many thanks to Mr. Joe Depascale at Travers Tool for helping me get the first one off the boat. |

I got mine about a month ago. Been using it every day. A mini-review and pictures here: http://www.chaski.org/homemachinist/...ic.php?t=79325

I am very tempted by one of these. Among my reservations are the amount of power it has at low speeds and the availability of accessories - things like chucks, steady rests and a good quick change toolpost. Pete |
