mini lathe

Hi,
At he moment we have the chance to get one HAAS mini lathe with magazine barfeeder at very afordable price.
In the HAASCNC.com I saw that HAAS is not manufacturing this machine tool.
Is there anybody who knows someting more about mini lathe or anybody runing this model.
I'm going to do mass production of pneumatic fittings and other simple parts with thread and knurled .

They are a capable achine for what your going to do. They are small capacity, and some limitations on tooling cause of the gang tooling setup. There is allot of thinking on the setup, so you end up with room around all of the work that you do.

If you are looking at production of parts under 1", look at the Emco 420xt. It is a very fast dual-lathe. It runs two bars simutaniously, while using 1 single propgram. The bottom half of the machine just copies the top half of the part. Live rotary tools are available also. The MiniLathe has no sub spindle avail, no live tooling, etc.....

Look here for info on the Emco 420

There are allot of highly capacitive options out there. If it is a dedicated part, nothing beats an old Brown and Sharp CNC screw machine.

Thumbs up Buy It Now

The Haas Mini is a Great Machine. Sadly they are not making it anymore. I purchased the one they had at IMTS 2002, and it has paid for itself more than 4 times already. Yes, it has its' limitations, and yes it would be nice if they had a common slide machine with a tailstock. However, for the $$.$$ it has been a very nice little piece of equipment.

Martin,

As this is a quite old thread..you might want to know that Haas stopped production of the Mini Lathe back in about Oct. of last year..They said there was not enough demand for them..next choice would be an SL10 lathe..

WE did get it

Hi,
Thank you all about the coments .
We have this HAAS MINI Lathe now:
MAchine, High capacity coolant, Samsys Multisaver 5.55 Magazine Barfeeder.

The machine was delivered on 18-th of January.
From 28-th of January 2005 it's working 24h a day. 860 hours.
So far so good. We are very hapy with it .
Thight tolerances - we are working 10 mm brass bars . Comparing to our 3 old machines Tsugami Mercuri, And 2 Citizens - the parts produced per shift are 100% more.
