    Has anyone guessed 101, That's my guess... or, maybe I read it somewhere in a earlier post about having soldered 101 surface mounted parts.

    Walking is highly over-rated

    I just changed one of the rules in a very minor way so people can not create a second screen name on here to get an extra guess. Something that will probably never happen, but I suppose it is good to cover all the bases and avoid any grumbling on Monday.

    This does bring up a point. I did consider the header pins as components. They are indeed components, but not of the ultra super deluxe dirt cheap version. Since I have seen the version posted on here with the header pins soldered, that was the version I selected to count parts. Those will indeed have 12 more components soldered than the USDDC version.
    That wasn't really clear, but I think we were after just how many solder points can gecko put on the head of a dime anyway.

    PS- I just saw where you cleared that up, Marcus. We do indeed count the header pins as components.

    We are looking for the total number of components, not pads. Here is a freebie: The 12-pin header counts as one component. :-) That is the version we are going for here.

    Opps. For those that can count then, my guess was incorrect.

    Thanks for excluding my answer from this rule, Marcus. I guess I should have asked about editing before I actually did it, but I was in such a hurry that I did not think about it till after the fact. Glad to see I might have a chance at this. I didn't even see the first contest until 11 hours after it was posted. At least this time I saw it early.

    117 Pretty Sure! Not absolutely sure because i think there is stacked components on the board.

    I draw the top overlay over the image given, 2 hours working! I'll post it if permitted by the judge...

    So there has been some confusion between pricing on the G250 variants, and I just want to clear things up for you guys.

    The "Super-Cheap" variety will be $30. The "Cheap" will be an undetermined price, most likely around $40, and will have more bells and whistles than the "Super-Cheap" version. The extra $10 gets you the 12-pin connector and a heat sink plate.

    Those are the only differences. If you want just a header and bare MOSFETs, go with the "Super Cheap". If you want a heatsink and a connector, go for the "Cheap" drive.

    Also, actual designations are on the way, so there will be no more of this "Cheap" and "Super-Cheap" talk, and actual names. Trust me, it is confusing the heck out of me just typing this, and as soon as we have a set designation for the two drives I will be able to type easier.

    You can post if you like, but keep in mind that it will give an advantage to your competitors. If you are feeling generous, I am sure people would like to use your work. ;-)

    Ch_Irawan;

    Ah,.. Any chance you might want to work at Geckodrive?:-)

    I'm impressed by your logical method of solving the problem by constructing an innovative solution that quickly converges on the answer. It was so good I superimposed your thumbnail under the actual G250 artwork and it will show just how close you actually came after the contest is over.
