Mini Mill Conversion Question

Hello

I am planning on converting a Homier mini mill and I was wondering what size stepper motors I should use. I am planning on using the Xylotex driver board. Also, if I were to convert it to ball screws, which size would I want to use.

Paul it looks like you are also using those cheap servos I discovered a few months ago. I should have charged a finders fee for the website of where to buy them. If I had my machine would have been built and paid for by now.

When I found them I e-mailed Jeff to see if they where any good, I also asked Marris about them. They both said they where excellent servos, so I got 3 sitting in the closet waiting to be put to use.

Jeff got a few cases if I remember correctly and machined them to hold encoders and was selling them.

I’m just glad to see that several members of the forum are using them. It’s good to know that all that time I spent searching the net for servos has paid of for people other than just me.

Paul, are those ball nuts and screws from Roton. Are the screws 5/8"?

I looked at those the other day and almost ordered some. i went back today to do the deed and now they are $18!

They probably figured out why so many people are buying them. Now they are going to demand more for them because they know they can get it.

18 dollars for brand new servos that normally cost $90 is still a good deal in my opinion.

I CONVERTED MY HARBOR FREIGHT MILL TO BALL SCREWS AND USED THE CHEAPEST ONES THAT MCMASTER SOLD. JUST GO TO MCMASTER.COM AND LOOK UP BALLSCREW. SAVE YOU SOME MONEY AND USE A PULLEY REDUCTION FOR YOUR STEPPER MOTORS. FROM WHAT IVE READ, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO INPUT TABLE MOVEMENT PER REVOLUTION OF STEPPER MOTOR IN YOUR CNC SOFTWHERE . SO IM ASSUMING IT WOULDN'T MATTER BUT DONT QUOTE ME.
