BC.....Other thoughts

Hello folks..
Well, after 7-8 years of calls from a relentless sales team.........

I'm new to Bobcad & am really impressed with what I've seen of the product so far. I admit I was skeptical about RS232 comm. on a particular control I have. It took a couple calls, but Chris had all the right answers for me & now I'm sending & recieving programs "over the wires" slick as can be.

Overall:
Impressed with the flexability and many,many features of the software. Bobcad is NOT the software it used to be. It is full-fledged and feature rich. All for a truly reasonable price.
I believe some earlier (way earlier) versions may have had some short comings, and unfortuantely, there may be some
old customers out there that have a bad taste for BC. It seems to be all grown up now, with aggressive work on ugrades.

My 2 cents:
Not that Bobcad needs my ideas or suggestions, but .......
A product called Powerstation offers a seperate software called
-Jobulator-. It allows you to keep track of program numbers (begining line ID numbers,not line numbers), drawing numbers,
files,etc. related to the parts/jobs. Neat idea. Be cool if BC incorporated such features.
Also, Gibbs (for a mere extra $500 or so) has optional modules that allow slick ( I mean SLICK) association of .jpg part pix, setups, tool lists, operation sheets, all collected & stored with the G code list. They even have screen renderings that show how the part will change shape for each operation performed.

How -cool- would it be for BOBCAD to incorporate some of these features. (Which I gather is in the grand plan of the software development team). Check out some of your exzorbatantly priced competitors for these neat ideas guys.....

Now you're talking my language! This is the sort of post that gets me going! Yep, we're all grown up now. You are going to see some amazing things coming out of BobCAD-CAM in the coming months. We already have a list of functions to come that is going to take our full attention. However, the features you listed will be added down the road. First things first. Agressive development is happening right now.
