Thumbs up Help! I'm thinking about buying HAAS.

I’m just starting out and I have a 1991 VF1 that has a lot of problems but I do like the way HAAS is so easy to use. I’m thinking about buying a lathe. Need a 2-2 ½ spindle live tooling Y-axis and pickup spindle.
Do you all have any input? Can someone help?

For starters, this should have been posted in the Haas Lathe forum.

You might have received more replies there. I'm sure a mod will be along shortly to move it there.

It sounds to me like you're in the market for a TL-25. I'd be interested to hear about your search because that's a machine I see myself eventually buying as well.

you can actually go with the TL-15, 2" thru hole or get the big bore kit for 2.5" thru hole. only thing you won't find is Y axis.

That’s no good. Is there any Haas with a Y axis?

I guess the question is: what do you need from a Y axis?

They have C axis available so you can still cut flats, slots and other profile features. I guess the limitation would be if you needed to drill/bore a hole perpindicular to the centerline that was also offset from centerline (safety wire hole through the corner of a nut for instance).
