we have a 2000 model sl40 that needs a new monitor. i beleive it is a monochrome type. we are in a well lit shop and can hardly see it anymore.

has anyone changed these before?

The video connector is a standard 9 pin shell with 6 pins populated. My guess is that an EGA, not VGA, may be compatible. For a monchrome monitor the minimum number of wires is HOR SYNC, VERT SYNC, Video, and common. Another lead might be used for intensity. If you can find an EGA you could try it. You would want more information on the pin functions first.

With an oscillscope you can get you more information on which lead does what. An ohmmeter will tell you which lead or leads are common.

The trend in control monitors that were CRT is usually TTL format instead of analogue, also the horiz rate is very low.
The 9 pin is usually an indication of this (TTL).
If you can still find any old TTL's that have auto horiz sync, you may be lucky.
I have found some that will work, but they are getting few and far between.

i have been wondering if it comes out from the front of the panel or the back.

we were able to order one form our local haas dealer for 350 dollars.

check with earthlcd.com i got my replacment monitors from them. they have all shapes and sizes. good prices too.

I seem to remember it comes out the back. Get a power phillips screwdriver, a set of hollow shaft nut drivers, some side cutters, and some cable ties to tidy up once you put the new monitor in.

unfortunately, we had our worst crash ever yesterday. transition from dayshift to night shift, there was no communication. had a g10 shift of g54. night guy ran a couple of toolpaths and did not realize the g54 was shifting. when he actually went to run the part, it slammed into the chuck at 50% rapid.

spindle is hard to turn by hand and the turret has separated from the carraige by about 1/4"

haas service has been called.
