screwless vice clamp blocks

Hi, I bought a screwless vice and am working on some clamping blocks, I took some measurements on the vice and compared them to the blueprints LMS has on their site, is there any specific reason they are where they put them? they say .62" and I have .691" from bottom to center.

Im curious how I should design these, where i should put the drill rod in perspective to the hole.

If someone has any information for me, please let me know, I want to make these tomorow, I have everything but those holes done, I need to get my other vice in the mail.

Thanx
Jon

JFettig,
If you are talking about the 3" screwless vice from LMS. Just build them like the drawing and they will work great. Just finished some myself two weeks ago.

I made these blocks and they dont even touch the table. I can see they will hold down the vice, but they probably could be touching the table dont ya think?

Actually the end that is away from the vice should touch the table for proper clamping of the vice to the table. There is a shoulder on that end that is suppose to touch. The rest does not.

Yes, the end with the shoulder touches. If you have a different vice, you may have to relocate (either raise or lower) the holes for the pins so that the opposite end of the block touches the table. You will get much better clamping if the end of the block with the shoulder rests on the table. If it doesn't, you will not get much clamping force and the vice could move under heavy cutting loads.
