Default Mardus-Kreutz Unipolar Microstepper, a simpler alternative.

Here is a simpler (more integrated) alternative for the Mardus-Kreutz unipolar power stage. No PCB board has been developed for this design. This is the response for some people's complains about previous mosfet driver chip availability in other countries.

Thanks, Nasiri, for your help on this design.

What's the Max Amper Setting for this Driver and what's the formula to set the current limit ? I checked the circuit but cannot find how to do it, i just saw two 0.2 Ohms / 5 Watts in parallel. Can you please help ?

The maximum current per phase is 8 Amps, the formula is: adjust the Reference (TP1 and TP2) voltage to 0.1 times your peak current by using the potentiometers. Remember to follow the setup instructions on the original thread ( http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=252 ) there is a jumper selection on the translator's board for this adjustment (service position).

Signal PB1, the name of the signal refers to a connection to PortB pin 1 on the Attiny2313, that is an Error / Enable output (Error = 0, Enabled = 1) The description of the function is written under the connector on the translator's schematics. That pin of the connector does not need an external connection.

Tips for loading the Rev01N++ firmware on the ATTiny2313-20

Most of the complains so far have been the transaltor not working after loading the Flash memory. Here are some tips:

-Remember to set the fuse for external Xtal > 8Mhz.
-Do not change the watchdog ON fuse.
    -Enable the Brown-out detection fuse....!!!
-Un-Check the Clock divider (clk/8) fuse!!

Again, after blowing 3 MOSFETs in first test, here's the first video of Simpler Alternative :

Of course the period is short as MOSFETs are naked

Tested with TC44227CPA's instead of TC427CPA's, 1/5 Microstep, 48V Power Supply, IRL640 MOSFETs with 47 Ohm Gate Resistors and 0.22 Ohm Ceramic Resistors (They are not adequate but it was okay)

    Thanks Nasiri, Kreutz and Mardus...

Thank you Ozan, Congratulations!!, You are the first user to post a video of the board's performance on this thread too.

    Default Bipolar version

Bipolar version of Mardus-Kreutz unipolar microstepper. Should be work bipolar or unipolar but not tested yet. Difference only power output. Also has more microsteps, M-K steps and 1/3 1/6 1/9 1/12 1/18 and 1/36. This driver will work with rotary table indexer http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47007 modyfied to atmega32.

    Kreutz,

Just wondering why you chose to go with a dual output driver (TC427CPA) instead of a quad output such as the TC4468?

    Thanks,
    Jon

Chip availability in other parts of the world. This design was made because the original Mardus-Kreutz board's mosfet driver chip was not widely available.

    Kreutz.
